Every diamond, lab-grown or mined, is graded on four criteria. You will see these everywhere. Here is what they actually mean for a ring you will wear every day.

A few things worth knowing before you budget:

• "From" prices reflect the entry-level carat weight for that design. Prices scale with carat size, so a 2.0ct stone will cost more than a 1.0ct in the same setting.

• The setting style affects the price. A pavé or halo design involves more diamonds and more labour than a solitaire.

• Bespoke is available. If you have a vision that does not exist in our current collection, our bespoke design service can bring it to life. Lead times and pricing vary by design.

You should be able to see this before you purchase. If a jeweller cannot provide independent certification for their diamonds, that is a reason to pause.
