Frequently Asked Questions

What is special about an emerald cut?

Emerald cut diamonds are unique for their modern, geometric profile and clean facet structure. The emerald cut originated in the Art Deco era, a period of exuberance and fast-paced modernity, when design celebrated opulence, symmetry and bold geometry.

Emerald cut diamonds are defined by their rectangular silhouette and step cut facets. Unlike the classic round cut, which features multiple small facets for maximal fire and brilliance, the emerald cut has fewer and larger facets, creating an elegant, flashing gleam like a mirror. Emerald cut diamonds also feature a large, flat table (the top surface of the diamond) which displays the clarity of the diamond.

Our Dea emerald cut engagement ring is deliberately crafted with a premium lab-grown diamond of VS clarity and D-F colour grade (colourless); perfectly showcased by the precision crafted emerald cut. This ring is finished with a minimalist four-claw setting, which securely holds your lab-grown diamond while enhancing its visibility and light performance.

Is an emerald cut engagement ring timeless?

Yes, the emerald cut originated in the Art Deco period of the early 20th Century, and this shape has been an enduring icon for more than 100 years. An emerald cut diamond is a unique choice compared to the more popular round brilliant and oval cuts, making our Dea engagement ring perfect for those who prefer style with a point of difference. While unique, its clean-lined facets and rectangular profile give the emerald cut a timeless appeal.

Emerald cut diamonds are prized for their clarity and elegant gleam, unlike round brilliant diamonds which are known for their brilliant sparkle. Play up the benefits of your emerald cut lab-grown diamond by choosing a high clarity and colour grade, to ensure a piece you will love endlessly.

Does the Dea Emerald engagement ring come with a warranty?

Yes, we proudly offer a three-year warranty from the date of purchase against manufacturing defects for our rings, as well as complimentary resizing within the first 12 months. Resizing services include cleaning and polishing of your ring.

How do I find my ring size?

Use our Ring Sizer for help to determine your correct fit. If you wish to attend an in-person appointment at our Bangalow studio, we can also offer professional ring sizing for you.

Remember that your ring size is different across each finger, and can also differ between both hands, so it’s important to measure for the specific finger on which you’ll wear your ring. Your size will also naturally fluctuate slightly over time, or when changing between hot and cold temperatures. To ensure a comfortable fit, make sure your ring is snug enough that it feels secure and won’t slide around; but not so tight that you’re unable to easily take it off and on, or that it will become restrictive.

Can I view this engagement ring in person before purchasing?

Absolutely, we welcome you to book a complimentary appointment with us to explore our collections and enjoy expert guidance. You may visit our Bangalow studio by appointment, or, if you are not in the area, please book a virtual consultation to receive the same concierge experience from the comfort of home.

Can you visually tell the difference between lab-grown and mined diamonds?

No, lab-grown diamonds and mined diamonds are indistinguishable to the naked eye. Lab-grown diamonds are optically, chemically, and physically identical to mined diamonds. They are generally identified by microscopic markings which can be viewed under a jeweller’s loupe. It’s important that they are distinguished in this way so that customers are informed as to the type of diamond they are buying. However, if your concern is that lab-grown diamonds look “fake”, the answer is no. They are real diamonds, just created differently.

How do I take care of my lab-grown diamond engagement ring?

The simplest rule for preserving your engagement ring is to remove it at the end of each day, and before activities where it could be knocked, scratched, or exposed to any harsh chemicals - such as going to the gym, swimming, or doing household cleaning. If you don’t wish to take off your ring before activities like cleaning or gardening, cover it up with protective gloves.

Clean your lab-grown diamond jewellery regularly with warm water and mild soap, and store your pieces safely while you’re not wearing them.

We recommend professional cleaning for your lab-grown diamond engagement ring once a year. At Futurae we offer a comprehensive cleaning and setting check service, please get in touch with us to arrange.

Lab-Grown Diamonds

Same Diamond. Better Story.

Lab-grown diamonds are graded to the same international standards as mined diamonds — cut, colour, clarity, carat. The only difference is how they are created.

No mining. No conflict. No compromise on quality.

At Futurae, we chose lab-grown because it is the right choice — not the easy one.
