Frequently Asked Questions

What is a solitaire engagement ring?

Solitaire refers to the style of your engagement ring. A solitaire ring simply means that it features a single diamond or gemstone as its centrepiece, giving it timeless, enduring appeal. For this reason, solitaire engagement rings are the most popular style.

A solitaire engagement ring may feature a diamond or a coloured gemstone, and it can include stones of any shape. A round brilliant diamond solitaire is the most iconic engagement ring.

How do oval cut diamonds compare to round brillant stones?

Oval cut and round cut diamonds are similar in their timeless, curved profiles and impressive sparkle, but there are a few ways in which they differentiate.

Round diamonds are specifically crafted for maximum light return, and display the greatest amount of brilliance, fire, and scintillation. Oval diamonds are also a type of brilliant cut and display beautiful radiance, but side-by-side, an expertly cut round diamond will show more sparkle.

Oval diamonds are usually preferred by those seeking a contemporary and slightly out-of-the-ordinary choice for their engagement ring. Oval diamonds also feature an elongated profile and a larger surface area when viewed from above, meaning they typically take up more space on your finger and appear larger for their carat weight.

Does this lab-grown diamond ring come with a warranty and cerrtification?

Yes, at Futurae Diamonds our lab-grown diamond rings are accompanied by a three-year warranty against manufacturing defects, as well as complimentary resizing within the first 12 months.

Every Futurae Diamonds piece is accompanied by a Futurae Diamonds Authentication Card, verifying the provenance and craftsmanship of your jewellery.

Should I choose a white gold or platinum ring setting?

Both white gold and platinum are beautiful, high-quality and luxurious choices for your engagement ring setting, so it ultimately comes down to your personal preference. There are a few ways in which white gold and platinum differentiate.

Platinum is a naturally white metal, meaning its colour will always remain consistent. White gold is a blend of pure gold and alloy metals, coated in rhodium to create a bright, white appearance and increase its durability. This makes white gold more lustrous and vivid than platinum, but it does require rhodium re-plating over time.

Platinum is also an extremely dense and durable metal, however it can be slightly more susceptible to surface scratches, developing a patina that requires polishing to restore its shine.

How do I find my ring size?

Use our Ring Sizer for help to determine your correct fit. If you wish to attend an in-person appointment at our Bangalow studio, we can also offer professional ring sizing for you.

Remember that your ring size is different across each finger, and can also differ between both hands, so it’s important to measure for the specific finger on which you’ll wear your ring. Your size will also naturally fluctuate slightly over time, or when changing between hot and cold temperatures. To ensure a comfortable fit, make sure your ring is snug enough that it feels secure and won’t slide around; but not so tight that you’re unable to easily take it off and on, or that it will become restrictive.

Can this lab-grown engagement ring be customised?

Yes. If you would like to discuss options for a customised lab-grown diamond engagement ring, we encourage you to make an appointment with us, virtually or in our Bangalow studio. Carat size, metal choice, and subtle refinements can be explored through a personalised consultation to ensure the ring feels right for you.

Are lab-grown diamonds real diamonds?

Yes, lab-grown diamonds are recognised as real diamonds and have the same hardness, brilliance, and composition as mined diamonds. They are not fake, nor are they ‘imitation diamonds’ such as cubic zirconia or moissanite stones. The difference is that they are grown in controlled laboratory settings and not mined from the earth.

How do I take care of my lab-grown diamond engagement ring?

The simplest rule for preserving your engagement ring is to remove it at the end of each day, and before activities where it could be knocked, scratched, or exposed to any harsh chemicals - such as going to the gym, swimming, or doing household cleaning. If you don’t wish to take off your ring before activities like cleaning or gardening, cover it up with protective gloves.

Clean your lab-grown diamond jewellery regularly with warm water and mild soap, and store your pieces safely while you’re not wearing them.

We recommend professional cleaning for your lab-grown diamond engagement ring once a year. At Futurae we offer a comprehensive cleaning and setting check service, please get in touch with us to arrange.

Same Diamond. Better Story.

Lab-grown diamonds are graded to the same international standards as mined diamonds — cut, colour, clarity, carat. The only difference is how they are created.

No mining. No conflict. No compromise on quality.

At Futurae, we chose lab-grown because it is the right choice — not the easy one.
